Species Transfport Model - Question

Hi everybody,

I have a question regarding the Species Transport Model. I am simulating the flow of a fluid which consists one main material, in which some molecules are dispersed. Additionally, from a pre-defined site in the tube, more of these molecules are also injected. What i am looking for is the molecules concentrations in the outlet, but ALSO their trajectories, which are influences not only from the Navier Stokes equations, but also from Fick's equation, due to diffusion. I am not sure how should i use the Species Transport Model, in order to simulate this problem... Is there a chance that i would need to combine the Species Transport Model with the Descrete Particle Model? And if so, how can it be possible?

Thank you in advance,

Lior.

Hi, I think you don't need to use DPM.If you choose species transport model, it already include Fick's equation. you will set mass transport coeffcient in material(mixture)

Re: Species Transfport Model - Question

Dear Jeffery,

Yes, but then how will I be able to track the injected molecules?? In addition to the concentrations of the molecules, I want also their positions, as received in the DPM model for injected particles. The problem is, that in the Injection panel i can't define the definitions that are enabled only in the Species Transport panel. I hope you understand my problem better now.

Thanks again for your help.

Re: Species Transfport Model - Question

Hi,I think you should combine the DPM model and species transport model together. DPM will help you to trace the injected molecules, and species transport model will let you use Fick's law. But in DPM model, you should choose DPM interact with continuos flow. Good luck
