what different between axisymmetric and 2d planar in fluent? |
Hi friends,
I have a doubt. while using the axisymmetric option at the axis can i have intersection of any other objects (say lines ) or the axis has to be continuous? Thanks in advance. |

The above is correct. So, if the axisymmetry option is chosen in Physics Panel of Fluent and one of the boundary of 2D geometry is chosen as an axis boundary condition, the axis must be made as the x-axis. This has to be done while the geometry is made in Design Modular of Fluent. One May have to rotate the geometry by 90 degrees, such that the boundary on which the axis boundary condition has to be imposed, becomes x-axis. For rotation in Design Modular: Create>Body Transformation> Rotate>Bodies -- select your body> Axis bodies -- choose components--make one component one, i.e, if you want to rotate about z-axis, (your body is in xy plane) then choose x-comp and Y-comp=0 and Z-comp=1>Apply This will rotate you geometry. |
