Default Heat transfer through solid.

I have a solid zone within my fluid, and I want to model the heat transfer from the fluid into the solid.

I have meshed the geometry in gambit, and when I load the mesh in fluent, the boundary between the solid region and the fluid region shows as "coupled" for the thermal conditions.

When I run the model, the solid region stays at it's initial temperature.

What have I missed?

Everything is correct. Check for material properties. Wait for convergence. Mahesh

Have you got a shadow face set the boundary condition correctly on the shadow face?

Hello Rob,

A couple of things to note when you are modelling conduction through a solid:

(1) Use a higher-order scheme like "Quick" for your for solving the energy equation.

(2)Make sure that your solution has converged fully.

Dont select coupled option in this case. Do one thing. Select the temperature after deselcting the coupled. If two different thermal conductivity substances are separated by a wall or edge ( eith both are solid or one solid and one fluid) it will take couple as a default. So, you select the temparature and speciy it and it will work nicely.
