i am currently trying to model a FLUENT 2D perforated plate with mach 2 flow across it, using the perforated plate with suction as a means of boundary layer control. i am having trouble with the values of permeability, porous medium thickness and pressure jump coefficient in FLUENT and would like any advide on what values i should be suing for these fields

cheers alastair

G'day alastair,

Not certain, I had a similar problem with a permeable facing used for acoustic foams - if you have not tried the archives under in cfd-online then I sufggest you you do as I think I saw a similar problem there.

You should look at the theoryin the fluent help, and how the model is applicable. I am just guessing that the thickness is the thickness of the plate - as in my problem (simple incompressible flow) this is the case. The pressure drop across a pressure drop is proportional to

With permeability I am not sure what the deal is with supersonic flow. In acoustics permeability is the material property - however some investigators have tried empirical formulae - which is unlikely to be applicable to your case

Good Luck

How to calculate permeability (k,m2) when porosity is known and thickness of the porous medium is known.
velocity =5.6 m/s
Discrete phase model
primary phase water vapor
discrete phase liquid droplets
