convergence problem

Dear all,

I have a question about convergence criteria by using surface motior. If the residual is oscillatiing but lower than 1e-3 and surface monitor is also oscillating around a constant, is the solution converged?

Any reply is welcome.

regards, sarah

Dear my friend

I have a suggestion for convergence criteria. in addition to residuals you can plot the variation of a parameter as velocity magnitude at a point in your flow domain as the fluent runs. if the magnitude of this parameter reaches to a constant value it means that the solution is converged. hope it will help you.

Best wishes A.safarzadeh

Re: convergence problem

What are you trying to simulate? It could mean that your problem is unsteady. You could change to the unsteady solver and monitor the surface variable with time to see if it exhibits an oscillatory pattern.

hi, in monitors if residual is reducing with simulation then it is going to converge
