which one of turbulence models perform better prediction for Hull resistance and how can I compute the inlet values to avoid trubulent viscosity reaches its' maximum ,1E5?

Realizable k-epsilon or SST k-omega model would give reasonable prediction of viscous (frictional+ form) resistance. Reynolds-stress transport model is probably the best choice for resistance and wake prediction. You can find a fairly comprehensive study on turblent flow around a ship hulll based on FLUENT in:

KIm and Rhee, 2002, "Assessment of Eight Turbulence Models for a 3-D Boundary layer involving Crossflow and Streamwise Vortices", AIAA Papaer 2002-0852.

I utilize Reynolds-stress transport model (RSM) to get a bad result in predicting skin friction resistance of a straight pipe.Enhanced wall treatment, y+=1-2.

K-e model is better than RSM in predicting skin friction coefficient of a straight pipe.

I don't konw why it is.

hi i heard from some prof. that k-e is not for external flows!!! but it is simple to get solution. no I am trying RSM but results are quite similar (sic!)
