the reason for this is gambit starts in drive c: and when it tries to save there it gives this error, next time go to console and start that in some dir say c:\gambit, so after working try to save in that dir not in c: ...it shall work

Not sure I follow, how can I start gambit in a directory?

it doesn't matter you start gambit .. you should save the files in some folder like c:\gambit etc, if you are saving in c: then there is this problem .....
