Error in Gambit

I want the details of error when i try to create the face. The error i get is ACIS error 6200 : wire has self interaction I had searched the documentation of fluent, but i didn't get any help. Where can i get information about this?

So does everyone else who uses Gambit. That's all the detail you're going to get out of it though. Since Gambit is based on the ACIS kernel, error messages in the kernel (ACIS error ####:) tend to be close to useless.

Wire has self interaction typically means you are trying to create a face where lines are crossing each other (hence self interaction). You're going to have to look at your geometry VERY carefully. Sometimes it's a tolerancing problem when you import geometry... other times I've seen people create an arc close to the line... they think it misses because it looks like it misses, but it's just because Gambit displays curves in a faceted mode, and when the number of facets were increased you could see they just barely crossed (this usually creates a horrible mesh too, but sometimes you just have to deal with what you have). I've also had that error message and never been able to find a cause... just one of the joys of working with Gambit sometimes.

Hope this helps, and goodluck Jason

Re: Error in Gambit

I recommend you contact your distributor or fluent region to get the answer. I felt the GAMBIT documentaiton is quite poor with regards to errors. (Actually GAMBIT is an ancient and archaiec program, that deserves to be put out of its misery...)

For me, I recommend checking your geometry before importing to GAMBIT. parasolid is usually the best.

hi I am masters student in Mech and using Gambit and fluent for Flow analysis.

While forming the volumes and getting the error message " all faces used twice error 45000"

can some one guide me how to correct the error.

If possible let me have your tel no so tele contact can be established

Re: Error in Gambit

Hi, First of all i would like to thank Jason for his valuable guidence, it really helped me a lot and i was able to remove the error. Jyopti, the error you are getting because while stitching faces you are missing some faces. Try to creat virtual volume, in that GAMBIT tells to check connectivty at particular edge, so u could locate missing face. Once, vertual vol is formed u can use all the same faces for real volume Hope this will work
