Fluent lacks a version that can use a 64 bit processor if u're having one. I've got RHN and it works fine. Although linux is tough to get started with, it takes away most of the problem that are encountered with windows. Windows has a lot of problems and it crashes vey frequently. I have never seen my linux machine crash!!!

I use FLUENT on a SuSE Linux Professional 9.2, and it works fine. We also have a red hat based linux cluster which works perfectly, even if I prefer SuSE because I find it easier and more powerful.
Yes, the difference between linux and windows is evident, expecially for stability. If you search the forum, you'll find a previous discussion on this topic. Linux is a bit more difficult to use if compared to Windows mainly because it works in a different way, but if you use a graphical environment like KDE or GNOME, you shouldn't have problems. FLUENT installation on Linux is really easy. You just have to run a script and to add the path to your .bashrc file. GAMBIT installation is the same. FLUENT and GAMBIT use are identical on Linux and Windows. Regards, ap |
