Hi All,

I had a quick question... To get extremely accurate flow results would you neglect viscosity of a high Mach number(Ma=9) jet impinging on a flat plate? I realize the inertial term would be a lot greater than the viscous term, but I thought near the flat plate the viscosity term might be quite important. Can someone please help me with my dilemma?

Thank you.

Regards, Manish

At such high speeds you can usually neglect the viscous terms since the intertia term dominates. The boundary layer is pretty small for high speed flows . ( you can see this by non dimensionalising the N-S eqn and viscous terms have an order (1/Re).So you can neglect the viscous terms and still get accurate results.
