Hi all, I am a new user in Fluent. I want to stimulate a vertical water jet in 2D in presence of gravity and air. For this I made geometry as: I made a rectangle she grid i which bottom edge is a wall, side ones are pressure outlet and upper edge is also a pressure outlet except there is small edge on top edge(which representing a jet) which is a velocity inlet. Will this configuration works?

In fluent, I am using k-eplison model using gravity option on and operating media as air(in the operation condition option). I am giving BC as: pressure outlet:default velocity inlet: 20m/s wall:default fluid: water liquid.

But when I am stimulating the jet using this model, I don't get result it is expect(as gives some upward motion after few cms).

Please suggest me some changes which I should make.

thanks

Amit

try to modify the upper edge. I think you should represent the upper edge by two or three zones. - velocity inlet and nozzle wall or -velocity inlet , nozzle wall and pressure outlet whising this help you

the water is flowing towards an air chamber,so I think you should use two different fluids and take into account their interaction...maybe..try to follow the tutorial about the transonic nozzle..i think it should be helpful regarding the kind of boundary condition it uses and the kind of geometry..
