definition of porosity or voidage of bed

Default definition of porosity or voidage of bed

hi all! i have a vertical fluidized bed dryer(vertical cylinder),it's height is 1.5m. this equipment contains particles bed at bottom (0.5m from bottom ),voidage of this bed is 0.45. how can i define 0.45(voidage of bed at botoom)? regards masood
