Droplets generation
Hello
I'm trying to simulate a device for generation of droplets. This is 2-D t-channel. Water is squeezed by oil, which generate droplets. I set 2d, segregated, vof, laminar and unsteady for this simulation. But I have failed to simulate it. I can't find a fault. Could you let me know what's wrong in my simulation? Thanks in advance. |
Re: Droplets generation
I am also doing the same type of simulation and I find it quite hard to generate a droplet too. But I could generate a droplet when the surface tension and the total flow velocity is high enough and the water fraction is low enough. Maybe since you are doing a 2D simulation( flow between 2 walls), the velocity profile is different from that in cylindrical tube. Therefore, the shear stress required in squeezing water into a droplet in the 2D-channel is smaller than that in the 3D-channel, making it difficult to generate a droplet. I would be happy if we can share our opinions about this droplet generation simulation. How large is the channel you are simulating?
