different viscous model in particular zones
 

I would like to simulate complex flow in the glass melting furnace which consist mainly of following two zones:

- combustion area with turbulent flow of the gases - glass melting tank with laminar flow of the glass

I am already pretty able to model these two zones as two separeted tasks. Recently, i would like to model it alltogether with defined interface for heat exchange (mass exchange negliable). I have no experience with that yet. Can you help me how to couple between two zones which differ in viscous sub-models?

If i am understanding your case correctly, you want to have different flow regimes when running single FLUENT case. right? In this case, you have two different zones for simulation. One is laminar and the other is turbulent. Activate k-eps or other suitable model from the viscous panel. This makes to solve turbulence in both the zones. Since, you want one of the zone solved with laminar flow equations, select that zone in boundary condition panel.(it shoud have defined as fluid). Open it's boundary condition panel and activate laminar tab. This will make solving only laminar flow equations in that perticular zone. Hope this is clear and it helps. Regards, -US
