dear all,
what 's the purpose to do the boundary layer mesh generation for the face? what the relationship with the boundary layer mesh and face mesh? thanks in advance frank |

Usually boundary layer mesh allows you to specify the thickness of the cell near your critical wall. However, I do not think that it is suitable for a flat wall. I use it for my circular wall.

The Boundary layer mesh on a face consists of a couple of very flat layers on that face. With a bounday layer mesh you can resolve the near wall behaviour of your flow while keeping the overall cell count reasonable. In your bounday layer definition you only specify the thickness of these first few layers, not the shape or size of your cells. The shape of your cells are defined in the face mesh itselve.
Use BL-meshes when the boundary layer needs to be resolved, or to tune the mesh to stay in the y+ region necessary for your wall functions. cheers, Laika, still orbiting |
