Problem with graphics
My pressure contours are coming out messed up. Everything is coming out light blue to green (instead of the normal dark blue through red) and the green is plotting to lower pressure areas while the blue is plotting to higher pressure areas (which is reversed)! I played with the min/max on the ranges and the colors didn't change one bit. I tried loading fluent with -driver x11 and -driver opengl, and neither fixed the problem. When I make a hardcopy of the graphics, it looks perfect, but it's unreasonable to continuously write images to be able to look at the solution.
Has anyone run into this problem, and if so, how did you get around it? I appreciate any help! Thanks, Jason |
Re: Problem with graphics
You must have accidentally changed the colormap. This is done using an option from the display menu. Check the manual.

Re: Problem with graphics
Double checked that, and it's fine.
I contacted fluent support... they're going to have an "engineering support meeting" to figure out what's going on. They think it has to do with having to run fluent through an LSF (Load Sharing Facility) so all the processing is being done off site and the display is being sent back to my system... between that computer and my computer something is going wrong. Thanks anyway for your help. Jason |
Re: Problem with graphics
I had similar problems running remotely on a Linux cluster through a HP Workstation. It is apparently due to problems with the HP opengl driver. I had Fluent Europe look into this problem for me at the beginning of the year. They could not fix the problem at the time, but gave me a work around. I need to launch the cortex process on my local machine(HP Workstation)using the command
fluent 3d -t0 -pnet and then spawn processes on the remote machines (Linux Cluster) using the GUI. As an alternative you can use the command fluent 3d -t# -cnf=hosts.txt where # is replaced by the number of processes and hosts.txt is a text file containing a list of remote machines. I'm not sure how this will work with the LSF you mention. Good Luck Mark |
Re: Problem with graphics
I just got a response from Fluent saying that it was the Linux/HP link that was the problem, just like you said, and they still don't have a fix. I can't spawn nodes onto the computers thanks to the LSF though. I guess I'll just have to get the company to spring for a new workstation for me :)
Thanks again for everyone's help. Jason |
