IF YOU STOP TYPING IN UPPER CASE AND BE MORE SPECIFIC SOMEONE MIGHT WANT TO HELP.

Exactly, which is why I responded with all words capitalized; so that the person knows how it appears when someone reads a whole block of text in upper case.

The general misconception among n00bs (read: newbies) is that if they type in upper case, their post will gather immediate attention and several people will get to read it and respond. If you take a moment to analyze such posts, you can see two things clearly:

a. The person obviously does not know how to effectively communicate and neither does he/she make a discernable attempt to do so.

b. The person has put in very little effort towards solving the problem on his/her own.

What they don't understand is that this forum is meant for specific queries. For instance, a cryptic error message that Fluent throws out (which is not documented in their errata and/or manual). That's just one of the many specific queries.

Again for some odd reason, most of such posts are somewhat 'frantic' in nature, like some desperate call for assistance. Granted we are all here to share what we know and help each other. But this isn't the way. If you have a problem that you haven't been able to solve on your own and would like to know if someone in this forum can help you out, the first thing you do is to make use of the search function and see if this problem has already been addressed before. Chances are this is a very frequently encountered problem. You look up a couple of posts from the search results and bang, your problem is solved. If not, you take 5 minutes of your time (not 5 seconds) and try to explain the problem as best you can. You don't just click on "Post new message" and type blocks of text in upper case or just include some set of keywords joined by an 'and' or an 'or'.

Having said that I do really appreciate some people like zxaar or Jason who actually take time to try and help as much as they can. But the key point is that not everybody is ready to respond like that. It is best to assume that people are 'by default' busy with other work and therefore, the more concise and to-the-point your question is the greater are the chances of many people responding to it.

dear pUI| and mark ...... thanks for the information.... i really didnt know that writing in capitals was like shouting ..... sorry for that.... next time i ll take care that this wont repeat..... basically my problem is that i am trying to validate a work published in a journal. the paper presents a non-dimensional analysis( i.e. no exact values are given.... everything is non-dimensionalised with respect to one variable).so i dont know the exact values to reproduce the model. so i wanted to know if it was possible for me to do non-dimensional analysis in FLUENT, with out knowing the values? it would be great if you could help me... thanks in advance....

Correct me if I am wrong. You want to implement a dimensionless conservation equation in Fluent using user-defined functions?

ya.. i want to implement a dimensionless conservation equation but i dont know how to redefine all the conservation equations in terms of my dimensionless parameters. for example, in my momentum conservation equation, i want to replace 'x' by 'x/L' where L is my flow channel height and similarly temperature and other parameters also. Hope you understood my problem and will be able provide with a solution. thanks a lot in advance.

Theoretically, you should be able to write your own user-defined scalar transport equation. However, I do not know why you wish to exactly replicate the model. Do you have an online reference for the paper?

Basically ..... i want to replicate the model so that before i go into my problem( which is an extension to the model i mentioned) i want to replicate the present model to prove that my model is correct and any further improvements in the model are reliable. the online reference paper i am using is-

"Davalath, J., Bayazitoglu, Y., 1987. Forced convection cooling across rectangular blocks. J. Heat Transfer 109, 321-328."

the basic problem i am facing is that exact values for temperatures, heat fluxes .etc. are no where given in the paper Everything is non-dimensionalised.

As I already mentioned, yes, you can write your own scalar transport equation in theory. This (http://www.fluentusers.com/fluent/do...df/node268.htm) tells you how to do that. Having said that, I really don't know how you would solve for your own conservation equations in the context of Fluent. Maybe Fluent support can help you out with that. Hope that helps.

actually u r correct i did not read the message because it was in capital, it remind me of one of my close friend, he used to write email in all capital letters, and he did not stop doing it even after i asked him not to do so. So, i stopped reading his emails. And i never try to read any message which is in all capital letters.
