WHICH MODEL TO USE???????????

hi all iam simulating oil n water mixture..in a horizontal pipe..the flow is turbulent..i want to find the fluid flow characteristics of dispersed flow... which model is suitable for this kind of application...can any one suggest me...can i use VOF model????

any suggestions is highly appreciated

thanks in advance Rashmi

Re: WHICH MODEL TO USE???????????

Eulerian. I've done it before. Use very very low URFs (say around 0.2 for most quantities). Also perform only transient simulations.

Re: WHICH MODEL TO USE???????????

so can eularian model can simulate the turbulent flows...

can u send me the report we u have done any work using eularian... i will be very much thank ful to u if u could do that.. thanks Rashmi

What is it that you exactly need; what kind of "report" are you referring to?

Re: WHICH MODEL TO USE???????????

No, I have made no reports on the usage of the Eulerian model. However, if you will take the time to explain the problem you are facing, I might be able to help.

Your earlier statement "...so can eularian model can simulate the turbulent flows..." suggests that you have some confusion in understanding that the eulerian model is a multiphase model in contrast to other models such as the k-e model which are turbulence models. The Eulerian model by itself does not account for turbulence. Activating the k-e model includes a turbulent stress term in the governing equations of the eulerian model which simulates turbulence. In summary, the Eulerian model can be used in conjunction with the k-e turbulence model to account for turbulence in multiphase flows.

Re: WHICH MODEL TO USE???????????

Hi i suggested to do VOF model because it is only used for two fluid and u said that u mixing the two fluid in a pipe then VOF is best model for that i doing VOF model for slidin g a sheet in a fluid and using VOF model.any problem then send whole detailed on ms_project05@rediffmail.com
