I am setting up a spray simulation into still air. What do you think the best BC would be for a 2D axisymmetric rectangular domain. I have the inlet/outlet then walls with zero shear specified. Or would you choose Pressure inlet at the wall boundaries and set it to atmospheric like in the Fluent Tutorial 16.

Also to use DPM, you need to solve for the continuous phase first, can you set the velocity inlet to zero, then introduce the injections?

any thoughts are appreciated thanks

Hi kev,

I just created a similar axisymmetric problem and I used pressure far field boundaries for the inlet and upper wall (however, i should warn you I'm still a rookie). The way i solved mine was in a similar manner. I had a flow going through the domain so i solved that first and then introduced the injections once the initial problem began to converge.

I hope that helps a bit

Thanks for the reply. What did you set the air flow velocity at? I'm after still air, so maybe you can use v=0. Does that work? Maybe I should get back to the Fluent Manual and read, its only 5000 pages thick.

Hi, the air velocity that I needed corresponded to a mach number of 0.41 but for what you're doing, I think setting the mach number to zero will be fine. The manual is huge but I found that it was broken up into sections quite well making it a little easier to find what your looking for.

good luck!
