Periodic Boundary

Hello

I am trying to model a simple duct with periodic boundary conditions at either end. Along the length of the duct there is a source of scalar that accumulates within the domain. I have fixed one cell scalar value within the domain to converge on a solution.

My problem lies in the periodic boundary. It forces the inlet and outlet velocity and pressure to be the same. This is good, but I do not want the value of the scalar at the inlet and outlet to be the same at inlet and outlet. I believe this is also the case for species across a periodic boundary. I would like to jump the scalar value across this boundary.

Has anyone encountered this problem before? And if so, is it possible to stop the periodic boundary from affecting my scalar?

Thanks
