what is the use of y+ value and where can i find the details for their use in cfd analysis?

An extensive explanation is given in the Fluent help files. Essentially y+ is used in looking at the boundary layer and the validity of the different ways the flow near the wall is handled. If the y+ is very low, circa 1, then near wall functions can be used, along with a low Re turbulence model. Upto approx 300 then standard wall functions can be used. Above this then resolution near the wall drops off. However if you are only interested in the bulk flow characteristics then this will not be significant.
