Re: ANSYS mesh to FLUENT/GAMBIT

hi,Pillai.

i usually export the archive files(*.cm) from ansys, and import them to fluent.

fluent change the components into the surfaces and zones.(node comp->surface, elem comp->zone)

hope it helps.

Re: ANSYS mesh to FLUENT/GAMBIT

Thank you nan,

One more question.I that case Is it possible to define the boundary condition and name it inside FLUENT? Becos In GAMBIT we do that in defining boundary condition and then transfer it to FLUENT.Also we change it if we want in FLUENT. But what do you comment about this problem?

I often do it the other way around. I export from FLUENT into CFX. I use the file format CGNS, and it works super. - Michael Bo

Re: ANSYS mesh to FLUENT/GAMBIT

hi, Pillai.

have you tried it on 2d fluent? if so, try it on 3d. and gambit failed to import 2d-mesh as you stated. i don't know the direct way to import 2d-mesh from ansys to fluent. maybe you can export it from 3d fluent to gambit. sorry.

or aren't there too skewed elements in the mesh? sometimes reversed elements stop the import process .

and michael, don't you tell me your way can be export the mesh with its boundaries and zones? thank you.

ps. on boundary condition, fluent can define them.
