Thermal Conditions for Two-Sided Walls

Is anybody knowing how to introduce convection heat transfer on wall of a solid heated by flowing hot gas. This solid of cylindrical form is placed inside the tube. This hot gas flows inside this tube.

Tomm, there is a tutorial in fluent where u simulate an airfoil, in this tutorial u draw as ur domain "the gas" that flows around the airfoil, I think it woulb be the same thing with ur problem. You have to draw a big area basically around ur cylinder and grid this area and considering the surface of ur cylinder as a wall, then in Fluent pick the right solver to do the thermal analysis.

Check the tutorial that I'm talking about and probably it would make more sense to you my explanation.

Thanks a lot, but it is not the same promblem as I have.Mine cylinder inside tube conduct energy. This cylinder is not empty,it has grid also.Ambient gas in tube flows from inlet to outlet with inlet temperature 1000K.I want to include convection model on wall of cylinder: alfa*(Tsurface-Tfluid) Fluent contains "two-sided models".I can turn on coupled or uncoupled under thermal condiction.Main assumptions is: this model does not contains convection and radiation phenomena on wall which has solid and fluid region on each side.I have tourned on coupled option under thermal condiction but this way is not perfect.Coupled model is good in case when laminar layer is very small, it means alfa coefficient is very high.If you have any sugestion I will be very gratful to You. Hi tom...

mmmm..I think coupled condition should be working well there...If u r planning to deifine the wall with a heat transfer coefficient value, then there is no need to simulate the gas flow.
