how to calculate electrical potential with UDF?

I read in paper that the electricval potential can be coded as user defined acalar transport equations in FLUENT but how to write the code and set boundary conditions and meterial properties?

Thank you for any help.

Re: how to calculate electrical potential with UDF

First have a look in FLUENT documentation about UDS. Make a comparison between the UDS equation in Fluent, and the electric potential equation.

If you simulate an imposed current or potential, there is no source to add...it will be easy.

You have to write a source (UDF) function of the velocity gradient if the potential results from an interaction between the flow and a magnetic field. This is much more complicated.

keep in touch.

Hi,

I am thinking about a simulation of the air flow through a plasma field. There is an ionization taking place - can this be simulated with fluent?

If yes, how? Does someone know the equations or can give me any paper?

Your plasma has a constant or varying (time) ions concentration?

I need to see the equations that you want to solve... then I will be able to answer you.

Your messege is very helpful. I will try to solve a laplace field first. I may still need your help for writing the UDF file. Thanks a lot.
