Can fluent incorporate a pulsating wall motion?
If the wall shows a pulsating motion i.e. expansion and contraction and this propogates as a wave i.e if the boundary coordinates of wall are r = A(1 + cos ( 2*pi *(Z-ct)/ λ )) where A is the amplitude Z is the length of the track and c is the wave speed. This can happen if the wall is elastic in nature something like blood vessels or the food pipe i.e. oesophagus.

Re: Can fluent incorporate a pulsating wall motion
If the oscillations amplitude A is small compared to the radius of the cylinder, it is possible...(A/R~0.01) You can model this effect by using not a WALL Boundary condition, but an inlet velocity boundary condition. You have to write an UDF for the velocity =dr/dt (function of time), and put this UDF into the velocity inlet at the normal velocity.
But be careffull on the grid size and time step that you have to use, which depends on c and lambda.... |
