Hi everybody! If I want to define a velocity profile on a boundary, how can I do? I have to take into consideration the effect of the wind and actually i have divided the wall in a series of surfaces on which I have defined a constant value of velocity. Doing this way I 'm obliged to draw the grid agian everytime I waqnt to change the velocity profile. If I can write a file in which I specify the relationship between the velocity and the height I'll work faster. Can you suggets me something? Thanks a lot anto

It is possible to write a UDF that will define the velocity profile in the way you wish as long as the profile can be describe mathmatically. Take a look at section 10.1.1 of the udf manual for an example that is very similar to you problem.

Please search this fluent forum for past messages. There was a 2D/3D UDF posted here for velocity profile varying with height (BL kind of flow) . It was posted last year, 2005. sometimes during the end I believe. Modify that a little bit to suit your needs.
