hi I am modeling a hydropower intake. It has trash racks of very small size( 10 mm x 50 mm x7500 mm) at a spacing of 40 mm stacked continuously. This trash rack is placed inside a fluid block and subtracted. While meshing i have problem.I also tried sizing function. another problem i encounter is in boundary condition.I generated meshes for two volumes separately.at the common face between those two volumes i gave a boundary condition of interior. While exporting to fluent it gives error. please give your valuable suggestions thanks in advance

Hi, Regarding your size functions: try to define a volume around your rack (split). You will have more control of the local mesh. Then for the transition with the entire model, just apply a size funtion with created volume as source. For the other problem, are the 2 volumes connected? (at tthe interface between the volumes, do you have 1 or 2 surfaces?) Hope it helps

Once your volume is meshed, the outer surface on the volume, will be set a source for your whole domain. A transition of cell size wil be desired between the outer surfaces of the volume (set as source in the Size Function)and the average cell size of the domain. In fact you will have: your rack (smallest cell size), transition to cell size#1 in your volume, then transition to cell size#2 in your domain.
