Water oil separator
Hi
I have been working in the modelling, meshing and analysis of a 3-d water oil separator. In the final output/analysis i can get teh separation of water and oil in a helical separator, but my problem is at the outlet, I dont see any separation present. My problem is same as given in the fluent tutorial guide 3-d water oil separator. But i am working on finding the optimume parameters for the separator. Could anyone tell me, how can i get the separation at the outlet. Thankyou |
Re: Water oil separator
How is the outlet boundary condition specified in Fluent? From your description you are seeing separation in the unit, and then at the outlet it suddenly mixes again. If this is the case, then it could be a non-physical result because Fluent is forcing a mixture at the outlet.
Try moving the outlet further away, does this give better separation and then mixing at the outlet? Write a UDF to force the oil water interface at the outlet and then try that. Unfortunately, this means that your model is no longer predictive, but by modifying your UDF you should be able to get something out that looks reasonably sensible |

oil-water seperator
Hello
I am working on 3d simulation of oil-water separator.B.cs are Inlet-Mass flow rate outlet-Pressure outlet Initially i have patched the volume with water. After that i have given effluent water as inlet along with oil.I am confused with the value of pressure i have to give in the pressure outlet(which is beneath the water surface). So please help me in this regard.:) |
