Can I use different turbulence model in dif zones?

Dears,

I have seperate the 3D model in two zones, and I want to use different turbulence models in the two zones.

Can I do this in Fluent? Or I have some mistaken idea?

Thanks.

no the idea is good cause some development is made right now at fluent and other to do for example: RANS in the far field and LES close to area of interest (flow around a body for example). Th problem, is what do you use at the interface of the 2 area. If you are an expert both in Fluent and Turbulence devlpment you can do it ... good luck !

Thank you for your reply.

I am not very familar with both Fluent and turbulence, so do you mean that this is too difficult for me?

Thanks again.

Hi,

you may separate your domain in two simulations, one far field with one turb. model, and a close field with another turb. model.

Then do a steady calculation for the first simulation, and take the results at the bondary to the second simulation as starting conditions.

Problem: How to calculate turb. input parameters for the second from the results of the first simulation??? Depends on turb. models... No Idea...

Hope it helps

Ralf

Thanks, Good idea, My thought is zone A -> zone B ->zone A. But the A-B boundary condition and B-A are difficult to define.

It may be just an idea.

I would swear that FLUENT has a UDF to do this in the user's sections of their website. Now I find it again. I'm not sure it is what you want, but: http://www.fluentusers.com/udf_archi...ples/UDF51.htm
