Reading a case file in Fluent

I am trying to read a 2D case file into fluent which is created using GRIDGEN,a pre-processor used to build the grid. I could'nt open the case file which reads the following error. Can anyone help me in this regard?

Re: Reading a case file in Fluent

Hi there!

I think you are facing to some problem with Block option. I just know a little about this one, so let's me say what I think:

- Step 1: Create Domains (2D).

- Step 2: go ahead to create blocks, actually it is 2D, but you choose the option of 2D in Gridgen and then you can create blocks in 2D.

- Step 3: After having blocks, go to align the directions of block.

- Step 4:Set Boundary conditions and export to *.cas file.

- Step 5: Read into Fluent to solve.

If any problem, feel free to ask. Hope this help!

Hi Thanks for the reply. I want to know about 'step 3' you were mentioning. Can you eloborate on 'align the direction of the block'. what should be done and why?

Re: Reading a case file in Fluent

Hi Pavan!

In my experience, we have to do this step, to align the direction of all computational domains. Because in solver software (Fluent) it do not understand the direction we created in Gridgen (I think). Then we have to "say" to the solver about that, it means we have to use this step.

In processing, it's quite difficult to explain in English (My Engs is so bad). So, I recommend you read in the help at part "9.7: Structured Block Topologies and Orientations" And use my previous recommend to do.

Hope this help!
