settign periodic boundary condition

hi i am trying to simulate 3d flow ower circular cylinder. while i am trying for periodic boundry meshing in gambit the error message shows like that, "There nust be one edge specified for each face loop".i think i am missing something. can anybody tell what is the wrong with me.

ps: i was able to do meshing (periodic) without any error by the same procedure in the recent past. bye Ayapan

Re: settign periodic boundary condition

1. Try hard-linking the periodic surface meshes in GAMBIT and generate your volume mesh afterwards

2. Do not set the boundary to periodic in GAMBIT

3. Make them to wall with different names

4. export the mesh, read it into fluent

5. Check the rotation axis of your domain i.e. the first fluid or reference fluid zone under report/reference zone (GUI): It must be equal to your rotational periodic axis.

6. make the two walls of pt. 3 rotational periodic with /grid/modify-zones/make-periodic using the TUI

7. if the mesh was linked correctly in GAMBIT the default tolerance value should work otherwise increase it slightly.

hi Volker Pawlik,

first i thank you for your replies, sorry i forget to write some important points in first message.

i faced the problem while hard linking. i splitted my domain in to nine(9) parts. likewise i am getting rectangular prism with center subtracted by the cylinder. in that part the hard linking shows the error message."There nust be one edge specified for each face loop". i tried by splitting the the inner domain in to two and now its working fine. thakning you for you help bye Ayapan
