Propagate Algorithms

Hello, I'm trying to simulate a supersonic shell at Mach 2.4 (7.62mm, 20mm, 30mm, etc shells) and its sonic boom, 1 meter away (1 meter for the tests but it should be 8 meters minimum !!).

I've heard that the best method wasn't to simulate from the near to the far field directly but to procede in 2 steps (or 2 zones) consisting of the near field CFD solution and a propagation to the ground (from the near to the far field).

Does any body knows if this can be done with fluent ? (and where does end the near field...)

Thanks !

Cyril
