error messege in fluent

Hey everyone,

Thanks for your interest in reading my question.

some error messege puzzle me all the time, just like follows (1)Error: divergence detected in AMG solver: y-momentum Error Object: ()

(2)Error: Too many (2720692067) VOF sub-timesteps. The velocity field is probably diverging. Please check the solution, and reduce the time-step if necessary. Error Object: ()

I don't now why them appear.who can tell me how i can do to solve this problem.

Thanks in advance for any replies

zhu

Hi, I got this error few times but then i think it is due to rapid increase in the values for which the divergence has occured. u may have to reconsider the control values and other values of your solution. this is my guess. Ramesh K

Thank you Ramesh K for your response!

But I have another question about my problem: I have reduced my time step size to very very small. If i want improve my efficiency, how can i do for it?

Hello, I think time step should be assigned by calculation making your courant number(minimum cell length/velocity). If you adopt this one you will get an idea of how the time step has to be taken. if your intention is to capture the fluid phenomenon at that particular level then go for small time steps or else it is good that you can have higher time steps.
