Default volume meshing error

Hi,

I have a 3d model and i finally meshed all the faces with mapping and tri meshing dividing the smallest edge into 20 pieces approximately (finest mesh using full pc capacity).

Max. skewness for the face meshes is 0.68. But when i try to mesh the volume, initialization error appears after several initialization attemps and it tells me to check the skewness considering small gaps.

As far as i know 0.68 is ok. I check the model visually and face meshes seem to be ok. Then what is the problem?

Thank you...

By the way, the smallest edge is approx. 1/500 of the other edges.

Hi,

Gambit normally reports this error where the meshing algorithm has failed. This happens in regions of the domain where you may have sharp angles or small gaps between faces/edges. Basically it's hacing a tough time creating a volume mesh based upon the face meshes you've supplied. Sometimes it helps placing size functions on nodes in these regions. Also, you could try dividing your volume into subdomains so you can mesh the easiest bits first.

Good Luck

Steve
