How to set 2 phases in Fluent: Mixture & Water

Hi,

Can any one help me to set up 2 phases in Fluent?

(1) Phase 1= Mixture of Air & water vapour (2) Phase 2= Water Liquid

Note: 2 phases are not mix together. Phase one is air (air + water vapour) flow thru pipe Phase 2 is in the air stream but inside of enclosed container (water).

Appreciate your help

JW

Hi, is there no interation between the two fluids at all? i am sorry but i donot understand the problem you are working with..i.e, is the container some porous media? or is it just closed and there is no interaction between the fluids?

Hi, There is no interaction between 2 Fluids. Water is inside of closed container.

Thx JW

hi, if the two fluids are non interacting, the only way i can think of is to simulate them separately and superimpose. may be i dont understand the problem. could you describe what kind of problem u r working on ?

Thanks for your reply.

I want to cooldown container which contain water (Temp 30C) using a air stream (Ie mixture of Air and Water vapour DB temp 20C). Container got sheet metal walls.

Using Fluent, is it possible to simulate separately and superimpose it? JW

Hi, now i udnerstand ur question. (this may be a trivial suggestion)..since u are only interested in heat transfer by convection from air to the container and then via conduction from container to water, does it help to model the container with water as solid? (giving properties as that of water?). thank you karuna

Hi karuna,‎ I have a two phase pipe flow into a pipe namely the two phases are air and water ‎they both flow separately and have different velocities I tried to solve my model in ‎fluent using the VOF model to estimate the pressure loss and void fraction but I ‎don not no how to represent this type of flow using the VOF model and I couldn't ‎find any tutorial similar to my case use the VOF model in a pipe so can you guide ‎me to how can I represent these phases using this solver (VOF model) or send me ‎any tutorial use the VOF model in pipe flow.‎ Thanks so much Khalid Bsrah University-IRAQ

Re How to set 2 phases in Fluent: Mixture Air-fuel

Dear Sir: I have mixture flow into combustion chamber GDI engines. 1-How can modeling the spray of fuel in combustion chamber 2-How can abtaine the results with respect to crank shaft rotation. regards
