Hi Fluent user, Is anybody know how to run a parallel simulation on single workstation with dual Xeon processor (both processor are dual core). I know how to assign the parralel simulation on cluster pc in which I can assign each partition to each cluster but not in single workstation. I just have no idea to assign my partition to each processor. Thanks in advance.

It is not possible, a dual core is like 1 processor for fluent code

You are misinformed. Dual core Xeons can give increased performance when you run fluent with the following switches:

fluent 2ddp -t2 -psmpi

If both CPUs are dual core, use the fluent -t4 -psmpi switch.

Thanks all for reply. I have 2 processors in my CPU and both are dual core Xeon. I'm dealing with 3D simulation so can I use fluent-t4-psmpi switch? If so do you have any idea how to run such simulation? Thanks in advance

Hi Mac, I try to run 3ddp -t4 -psmpi but I only get the message 'cannot read directory'. Anyway I'm working on Windows XP pro machine. Do you have any idea how can I run a parallel fluent solver in windows.

Just try "C:\Fluent.Inc\ntbin\ntx86\fluent.exe 3d -t4". It should work !

Thanks for your suggestion anyway I just couldn't run it at all. Is it possible that my Fluent installation incomplete or didnt include the parallel fluent? If so then I will ask our primary license holder about it. Regards,

I've a workstation with two intel Xeon Processors (with hyperthreading(two phisical processors but four processors appear in windows, there are two virtual ones). To run parallel fluent, i had to disable the hyperthreading, on the server board and then execute cmd and in the dos window run fluent 3d -t2. So if you have two core duo processors, i think you must try to run fluent 3d -t2.
