Default Mesh Failure

Hi,

When I try to mesh my geometry, it always fails and I keep getting an error saying that tetrahedral meshing failed because some of the faces have less than 3 boundary nodes which prevent them from being meshed.

On inspection, I find that these faces are really small and are almost like straight lines. Whatever I did to solve the problem like merging faces, or dleting them altogether didn't work.

Can someone help me fix this problem? My original model wasimported from Pro/E.

Thanks, Vidya

Dear Vidya,

Select the faces that have less the 3 boundary nodes. Mesh them separately using a fine mesh and then try meshing the whole volume by switching off the remove old mesh option.

Good Luck

Hi Sundar,

GAMBIT crashed when I tried to do that. Is there any other way to fix the problem? Also, when I tried to mesh thise faces separately, 2 of them were meshed with highly skewed elements (Equisize skew> 0.97). And the third face also had had a very skewed mesh. Then while meshing the volume, the program crashed. Any suggestions for this?

Also, I do not find any way to repair the bad geometry (edges, angles). When I used the clean- up operations, they failed too.

Do you have any takes on these? Thanks, Vidya

Hi Vidya,

Will it be possible for you to send me the geometry? Do you have any messenger so that we chat across to fix the problems.

Sundar
