Hi, I tried to mesh this piece but I definitely don't understand the errors which come back. I tried various ways (Hexa/Cooper) but I still don't know how to do that.

If anyone have a clue or can do that for me and give me a link. Thanks Renaud

after looking at your file, I think it is impossible to use a direct cooper theme to mesh the volume.

I think you should try to split the main volume into at least 3 smaller volumes. You can start meshing the inner cylinder volume first. to do that, you should mesh the top and bottom reference faces first ( pave ). Then you can mesh the edges of the little circles along the tube surroundings then, the whole side faces. then you can mesh the whole volume without applying the spacing first.

It will be better for you to maintain only one face between two adjacent volumes so that you don't have to stitch the adjacent meshes. ( you can define the face as INTERIOR later)

you can use the meshed side faces to mesh the outer volumes using the same way.

continue meshing until the whole assembly is fully meshed.

Hope it helps.

Finally, the problem is not solved because the mesh I've done is too big for the computer I'm working on and fluent complain about the allocation of memory. So all the ideas could help. Thanks

Thanks Bagus for your idea but I've got only one volume so I don't know how too mesh it separetely. Can you give me more details about your solution ? Thanks Renaud

Dear Renaud,

I think you should split the volume entity into smaller volumes first. You can split the volume by the appropriate existed faces. ( don't forget to set "connected" while you split the volumes ) I guess you will end up with 3 or 4 separated-connected volumes. Each adjacent volumes will be separated by only one face used together by two volumes. You can described the boundary condition of faces you used to separate the volumes by INTERIOR so that the faces can be penetrated by the fluid.

Then you can try to mesh them one by one as what I've described previously. First, I think you can mesh the top face first as the reference face if you want to use cooper theme meshing ( I think cooper/hex type is suitable for meshing a piece that looks like cylinders ), then you can mesh the faces that are used together by more than one volume, finally you can mesh the whole volume ( if this doesn't work, you can try to mesh the edges first. Then you can mesh the volume without applying the spacing. )

The separating of volumes will also give you flexibility to choose volumes with finer meshing than the others.

Please feel free to contact me, I hope this helps

Thanks for your help. It seems to work well. I will have some calculations with this mesh and let you know the result. Cheers. Renaud
