running multiple Fluent parallel jobs

I'm running Fluent 6.2 on windows 2000 machines. I have access to run in parallel on 4 pc's where one of them is the pc placed next to me. The other three machines are placed more far away. I have a license to run in parallel on all 4 nodes and it works fine with MPICH as a parallel passing interface.

Right now I am only running one big job at a time on all 4 machines. But how can I be able to run two jobs, each on two pc's without having to physically move myself to the other "mother" machine and start Fluent from there? Can I use some kind of remote access or do I have consider additional programs or workarounds? Please send me your feedback.

Kind regards Michael Bo

hmmm... I understand you have a cluster of 4 PC. one is the master, on which Fluent is installed, and the 3 others are slave nodes (without Fluent) if you want to run 2 jobs: one on 2 PC and the other on the 2 other PC's, you will have to re-configure your cluster. In this way you will need 2 clusters of 2 CPU (with 2 masters node)

yes. Thats right. I need to install Fluent on one of the slave, and seting up MPICH, but that can esily be done (I assume). The problem is how to access and control the master pc. I dont wont to run back and forth to start a simulation. - Michael Bo

Re: running multiple Fluent parallel jobs

ga and install VNC server on the future master, then install VNC viewer on your actual master. You will able to display on your actual master, your future master. That's it

OK. it works, sort of.... I'm not impressed by the graphics refresh rates, about 2 fps. Michael

if you are running a big model, time/iter will be greater than your refresh rate.... so you won't see anything! ;OP
