Saving particle (DPM) data to file?

Hi

I'm running a transient case with a discrete phase model.

I find two ways to write particle data to a file.

1) The first alternative is to use "display/particle-tracks/current-position/write" to file. Then I get data for all particles in the domain.

2) The second alternative is to use "report/discrete-phase/sample/default-interior" Then, as far as I understand when I pick default-interior, I should also get the particle data for all particles in the domain.

However, I will not get the same data in the two files. I get much less data in the second case, why is that? Does it save data in a different way? and do I really get all data when I chose default-interior?

I need to use the second alternative in order to be able to save data continuously during computation, so its important to get it right.

Regards Philip

I think is better to use a UDF to define your output format in case 2).

Try to have a look to UDF Manual or say as which are your particle tracking values.

Thanks Adriano I did write a UDF. But the thing is that, even if I write a UDF-output file I still only reach the particles in the specified surfaces which I pick, default-interior here, and I'm still not able to reach all particles in the domain.

If you or anyone else know how to reach all particles, it would be a great help for me.
