I want to create a geometry in gambit in inches but I cannot find where to change the units. Meters is the only unit that gambit seems to use. How can I change the units to inches?

Not really necessary. This will be taken care of by Fluent once you read your mesh in Fluent. Do this: create your mesh in Gambit with dimensions in inches say 2 inch by 3 inch. Proportions is all that matters. Now when you read the mesh in Fluent find Grid -> Scale option and in the option "Grid was created in: ", select inches, press Scale and it is done. Your mesh dimensions will be converted into meters (internal unit for Fluent).

Why you need to create mesh only in inches. You can use any dimension. It is a matter of proportions and you should follow consistent units in your mind!

thank you swarup.you solved my problem...
the changes in other parts of fluent should be considered.e.g wall thickness in B.C if the CHANGE UNITS choice has been enabled in the previous step.
so we had better get a summery of B.C before iterations to make sure every thing is ok.report....>summery...>boundary conditions
