why axisymmetric model space="grid check failed"?
hi all.i'm fluent new user.i have task to analized a 2D model with a TEE form using space model solver axisymmetric.the problem is when i checking the grid it's written "grid check failed".anyone can help me?

Re: why axisymmetric model space="grid check faile
Most common reason is that you have mesh below the X axis (X Axis MUST be the axis of rotation).
Hope this helps, and good luck, Jason |
Re: why axisymmetric model space="grid check faile
...or you didn't set your axis as an "axis" in the boundary conditions form (gambit)... (It hapened to me...)

Re: why axisymmetric model space="grid check faile
how to defined X axis as the axis of rotation?is it in Gambit or fluent?thanks a lot before Anwar

Re: why axisymmetric model space="grid check faile
In the 2D axisymmetric model, the X axis is the axis of rotation no matter what. You don't have to set it, but you can't change it either. So in Gambit (or whatever program you used to create your mesh) you have to make sure that you model your geometry so that the X axis is coincident with your axis of rotation. What Cyril was talking about is for like the centerline of a pipe (where Fluid touches the axis of rotation). You need to define this as an "axis" boundary condition. You should do this in Gambit when you're defining your other BCs. Also, your geometry has to all lie above the X axis (so your geometry must like where y>=0).
Hope this helps, and good luck, Jason |

You could define it in Gambit, or change the boudary conditon in FLuent. All should work. Hope it helps.

okay what about axis of annulus
what if the geometry is annulus and in 2D it is a rectangle placed at a distance away from x-axis there is no real or virtual edge ant y=0 line to be labled as axis .. hope you got my problem.. how do we define the axis now ???

-make the axis is parallel to the x-axis. -check the skewness of your grid. Try by changing meshing tyes.
