hii all i am doing an unsteady simulation. i want to plot velocity variation with respect to time at a particular point in the domain. but i couldnt find a way to plot any property wrt time. in xy plot i found it can be plotted only wrt position. kindly help. thanks.

Any time dependent data you want, you need to monitor it during the solution process (with the reporting interval set to time-step, not iteration). If all you have is the latest timestep, then there's no way to get the time varying data back. You'll need to re-run your model. Another way to do it (if you're not sure what you want to monitor) is to save the data file (and case file if you're using dynamic meshing or adaptive meshing) for each time step (or several time steps at least), but then you have to open each data file and get the results out for that individual time step, and this can be a long and tedious process.

Hope this helps, and good luck, Jason

thanks jason for ur reply. mine is neither dynamic nor adaptive meshing. i just want to plot velocity and pressure variation wrt time at some chosen point in space, and also store the data as i want to plot a power spectral density curve, which i can do in matlab once i get the data. i have made an isosurface at the point of my interest..and used the monitor option, but i m not able to get what i was looking for. can u plz suggest something? thanks.

Hi Ranadeep

You can monitor variation of any parameter by defining monitor in the monitor->surface menu. its really handy... just choose your point and specify the parameter you want to observe also define unsteady in solver window before you start iterations..

that will help I suppose

Nitesh.
