I am exporting fluent data (v6.2.16) to tecplot(v.10) and when i want to open the data in tecplot it gives me the message below (but not in all the files): Err: Err: Bad or missing FE Cell Indices for cell 160 Error occurred on line 396 near position marked with "@" below: 216 215 215 @

That is the last line of the file!!! So i open the file and i compare it with those files wich donīt give me anyproblem are exactly the same structure,...

Can anybody help me? Thanks

Have you tried importing directly ".cas" and ".dat" into Tecplot using (Fluent Data Loader)?

I did it, but now i can not make the contours of the tangential velocity, i think that i have a new variable f(Velocity_x_,Velocity_y_) but i donīt know how to relate it. Thank you, Rafael

in fluent data loader we can just have option for few varaibles and original surface.

i am also facing same problem for fluent 6.2 and techplot, i guess tht it is bug in fluent 6.2.

Hi,
The below solution may not hold only to fluent based Tecplot file generation but in general for TECPLOT DATA files.

In my Data file, I saw that this error is coming when I was not allocating the proper format to variable values.
e.g.
I was first using %15.5f for printing nodal variable values in TECPLOT DATA file, I realized that my data is not limited to 15 spaces but more. So their was no single empty column between different variables values of same node.
I then changed the format to %20.5f and got empty column between different variables value for same node throughout the data file.
this way the above error stopped coming!!

hope it will help someone.
cheers,
dhiraj

qianzd is right.
You have to change the elements type to triangles in techplot.
It will not effect your final result or any variable, but after changing in triangles (click on option triangularization) you will be able to see the plots.
Its strange but it works, or may be you are having some other problems which others are trying to suggest, jut check what is your real problem and try these sols. Best of luck

Hi,

I should have mentioned my problem earlier.
I have a mesh with tetrahedron elements ( some thing that I get in atomistic simulations), while plotting the data in tecplot I see this error coming and google gave me the link to this discussion.

The solution mentioned in the forum before my reply does not hold for me but by thoroughly investigating my data file I found the solution to my problem as mentioned in my above reply.

let me know for any further query.

cheers,
dhiraj

Hi, i am having the same problem..and as you said Mr. Mahajan, I looked into the format and it is okay. Tecplot is showing error on the last line of file. help required.

Thanx
