wood pellets

Hi,

I would like to simulate a wood pellet burning, decomposing and slidding along a plate. Is it possible to do this with Fluent? Thanks a lot for your answers

Sure you can simulate it in Fluent but perhaps not to the level of sophistication you are interested in.

Pellets can be represented by particles of specified diameter and composition. The motion of sliding along an inclined plate can be treated by tracking the particle with some representative friction coefficient on the grate.

Do you have any data that you can contruct a model for for the rate of volatiles release (including drying if required) and char burning? Do you have fuel composition data? Are you interested in temperatures or gasesous species compostion above the grate?

If you just want to look at "decomposing" on the plate, you could look at other software. FLIC is one that comes to mind. Good luck.

Thanks a lot for your answer. I don't have a license for FLIC so I will use Fluent. I have the data I need for the model. Actually I am interested in emission of particles, and the slagging and fouling tendency of ash. To decrease this two parameters, the temperature of the burn pot has to stay under a given value. To do this I am thinking about a combustion which doesn't not occur in a fixed bed, but pellets moving a long a plate in function of their size.

Hello! Body! Can you use the FLIC software to modelling? I have the software. But i don't know how to use it. If you konw, could you teach me?
