Default Gambit meshing - from many to few cells

Hi.

I'm trying to do a 2D mesh generation in gambit where I have some very small detail I need to resolve in a large domain. The problem is not in the small details, but going from small to big in a proper way. I have attached an image where you can see the pave method I've used to create the mesh. But I am content with the result. Does anybody have an idea on how to do it properly? Maybe by splitting the surface OR using hanging nodes? Any suggestions are welcome

Michael
