Hi everybody! I have a 3d .igs file and I want to opent it, do the mesh and the export to FLUENT. 1º way: I imported the iges file on I-DEAS and showed an import warning with 8 errors (unreadble geometry). So the file opens with errors.
2º: I open the iges file on catia. Then I saved with catia extension. Then on I-DEAS I imported the file and it shows: "CATIA Model must be specified" So the idea is: open in catia, export to I-DEAS (do the mesh) and export to FLUENT I would appreciate if anybody would help Thanks |

did you try with catia v4 format? (.model). Also, the original igs is from catia? If not, try to load it into catia, then resave it as igs again and try what happens with I-deas. I found that the latests releases of catia works very well with the igs. Hope this helps.

Wich release of CAtia are you using? I have V5R16 and I could see a better performance from the previous releases exporting igs. Did you try exporting the file as stp?
Good luck. |

I have the V5 R15 version.Yes i did try exporting with that extension. At first i thought that I had some problem with the file itself. But then I could open with Solid Works and Catia. So I don't know.

if you have a 3D iges file as input to your geometry, the best thing would be to import it into ICEM CFD and mesh it from there. You need to have Icem though, but it's worth the money.
