Hello ppl... The problem is as follows: i m working on unsteady flow past a circular cylinder... i m able to autosave all the case n data files at each time step . i need to have the dta of hou the x n y components of velocity varies at each time step. There's one way to write all 100 0r as many stored data files to ASCII files one by one n bring the values in a single file by copy n paste. This would b quite hectic. is there somway to get the variation of velocity at that particular point with time in a single file in just a single stroke. i guess problem is conspicuous...... Plz help me hou to do this? thanks in advance.

first define your points. Then just save the x-vel and y-vel component at that point into different files. Be sure to save it every time step and not every iteration. You can run the simulation and after that open the previous files.

Anindya firstly i would like to thank u for helpin me... Well....Anindya if i m nt wrong in catchin ur reply ...u mean to first create a point within the geometry going the surface optin n piont creation....yes .And then monitor the surface at that point. Bt the problem is while i move to monitor this point at every time step going the monitor surface option ...it asks the report type...where in many options as average, facet mininmum...etc r available . I tried with them and is gettin som average value of velocity at that point .This i ave come to know when i compare this value with that in the autosaved data files..... wat should i do? plz help me.....

krishna yadav,

in the same panel of 'Define surface monitors', why can't you check the drop down list of 'report of' on the right side, where you get the x-vel and y-vel under velocity.

all the best!
