screwness when mesing with copper scheme and BL

Hi!

I have a problem when mesing with copper scheme:

I have as geometry a long rod bundle in a square box. Now, I mesh in the following way:

1. I apply a BL to each face of my rods (to adjust y+ valus)

2. I mesh one of the perpendicular faces to the rods with tri elements.

3. I delete the BL (copper meshing doesn't work with BL). In the face mesh, the BL is still existing

4. I mesh the rod parallel faces of the box with hex-map scheme

5. I mesh the volume with hex/Wedge-copper scheme (sources are the both perpendicular faces)

Now, following happens: the mesh close to the walls which are meshed with map is ok, BUT the mesh on the rods has a screwness - which produces highly screwed elements.

It is like around the rods, the mesh is acting like a screw - and so, it is distorting the cells around them.

Any idea, how to solve that problem???

I've had a similar problem before. What we ended up doing was splitting the cylinder faces axially to get an edge along the cylinder, which allowed us to control the mesh along the cylinder. Then we meshed the cylinder faces before meshing the volumes.

Hope this helps, and good luck, Jason

Dear friends,

Everything is ok ..but please do not use the word `screwness` instead of `skewness`..it reminds of something else :)

Hi Jason!

Thanks for your help. I found another way:

meshing the top and bottom edges with the edge mesh tool in the same pattern - that works!
