I am simulating the heating and natural convection of Heavy Fuel Oil in a tank. I obtain different values for Static temperature (300 to 420 K - the expected range between boundary temperatures) and Total Temperature (300 to 326 K). Shouldn' t Static and Total Temperature be equal if the maximal velocity is 0.005 m/s? How can I explain it?

I guess you ought to start by explaining why the total temperature range is less than what you call static temperature

hi tomislav total temperature is the stagnation temperature and is the addition of static and dynamic temperrature. if the velocity is very less, the dynamic temperature becomes very less, nearly equal to zero, so at that instant the total temperature equals the static temperature. i think yours velocity is comparitively nery less, so that the static and total temperature may be of approximately equal magnitude, hope this will help

Thank you for the reply. I know for this definition. That's why I am wondering about the difference between static and total. The velocity is 0.005 m/s, I think it is too slow to have such different total and static temperature
